Fill the gourd in its ¾ parts with yerba mate PIPORÉ

Cover the mouth of the gourd with the palm of your hand and turn it upside down shaking it so that the powder will go to the top in order not to obstruct the sipping tube (bombilla).

Turn the gourd to its normal position carefully keeping the yerba to one side of the gourd so that it leaves an empty cavity on the other wall of the container.

Pour lukewarm water, moistening only the free portion of the gourd.

Wait some seconds and pour more water, then introducing the sipping tube in the same place.

Heat the water until reaching 70 or 80° C, and never let it boil. The mate is “cebado” pouring hot water only near the sipping tube, moistening like this, half of the yerba’s surface.

Tereré is a refreshing beverage keeping the ritual of mate and allows to enjoy a hot summer afternoon among friends.
There are various options to prepare tereré, however, the most classical one is served with lemon juice; and then each one can innovate according to the guests’ taste.

	Prepare juice squeezing 5 or 6 lemons, deluted in water. Add enough sugar to make it result sweet enough.

	Add 1 or 2 ice trays to keep it very cold.

	If possible, pour the frozen juice in a insulated container to keep the temperature.

	Use a glass container as a replacement of the gourd.

	Fill half the glass with Light yerba mate Pipore.

	Cover the mouth of the glass with the palm of your hand and turn it upside down shaking it so that the powder will go to the top in order not to obstruct the sipping tube (bombilla).

	Turn the glass to its normal position carefully keeping the yerba to one side of the glass so that it leaves an empty cavity on the other wall of the container.

	Place the sipping tube therein and pour the frozen lemon juice over her.
